i).  Subject Codes 01 to 10: As these subjects are taught in the High school level, the requisite qualifications for admission to these subject with not less than the percentage of marks stipulated in Item II (ix) herein. The minimum percentage of marks of marks stipulated in Item II (ix) herein shall not be applicable to the candidates those who are having P.G. Degree in the same subject with not less than 50% of marks. But, the weightage for higher qualification given in clause V 2(i) (a) herein is not applicable for such candidates and the marks secured in P.G Degree alone will be taken to arrive at rank.

  1. ii) Subject Codes 11 to 19: The require qualification admission to these subjects is P.G Degree in the relevant subject with not less than 50% of marks, subject to the condition that the major subject to the major subject in the U.G and P.G. Degree shall be one and the same.

iii) Subject Codes 14 to 19: The subjects indicated in these subject codes and Urdu are not offered by the Government and Government Aided Colleges of Education.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

  1. Eligibility and Educational Qualification

(a) Candidates with at least 50% of marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanity are eligible. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology with a specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks are also eligible for admission to B.Ed Degree programme.

 

(b) The candidates should have undergone 10+2+3(15) pattern of study and passed the qualifying examination conducted by the respective State Board or C.B.S.E. or any other recognized Board of Education / Examination and U.G. Degree Examination of the U.G.C. recognized Universities in any one of the school subjects offered by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary/ Higher Secondary Education level.

(c) The three-year Diploma in Engineering shall be treated as equivalent to +2 course for the purpose of eligibility for admission.

  1. ii) Candidates, who have passed the U.G. or P.G. Degree under Open University System without a 10+2 pattern of School Education examination are not eligible for admission.

iii) Candidates, who have taken more than one major subject in Part III & Part IV (under Double/Triple Major System) of the U.G. degree course should have to choose only one of the major subjects and should have applied for that Major subject only. In such cases, marks obtained by the candidates in two, three major subjects shall be taken into account to arrive at the percentage of marks as stipulated in Item (ix) herein.

  1. iv) Candidates, who have passed any degree under Additional Degree Programme or lateral entry mode with less than three years of duration are not eligible for admission.
  2. v) Candidates who have passed under a four-year Dual Degree Programme with two major subjects under Part III are not eligible for admission.
  3. vi) Candidates, who have qualified in the P.G. Degree in the subjects in Subject Codes 11 to 19 securing less than 50% of marks are not eligible for admission, subject to the condition that the major subject in the U.G. and P.G. Degrees shall be one and the same.

vii) Candidates, who have qualified in the P.G. Degree (5 years integrated course) under 10+2+5 pattern of study shall be considered for admission. In such cases, the marks obtained by the candidates in the first three years in Part III and Part IV alone shall be taken into account for admission to the B.Ed. Degree programme for subject codes 01 to 10. The marks obtained by the candidates in the last two years (4th & 5th year) alone shall be taken into account for admission to B.Ed. degree programme for subject codes 11 to 19.

viii) Equivalent Subjects

a) Candidates, who have done their U.G. degree in Applied Mathematics can apply for Mathematics.

b) Candidates, who have done their U.G. degree in Applied Physics, Geo-Physics, Bio-Physics and Electronics can apply for Physical Science.

c) Candidates, who have done their U.G. degree in Applied Chemistry can apply for Physical Science.

d) Candidates who have done their U.G. degree in advanced Zoology, Bio-Technology, Plant-Biology Plant Bio-Technology and can apply for Biological Science.

e) Candidates, who have done their U.G. degree in environmental science and Micro-Biology can apply for Biological Science.

f) Candidates, who have done their U.G. degree in Applied Geography can apply for Geography.

g) Candidates, who have done their U.G. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Computer Application can apply for Computer Science.

h) Candidates, who have done their P.G. degree in Nutrition and dietetics are eligible to apply for Home Science.

i) Candidates, who have done their U.G. degree in the school subjects (Subject Code 01 to 10) are eligible for admission to B.Ed. However, those who have done the U.G. in the subjects for which equivalence is not covered under the G.O. are not eligible for admission.

 

j) All the B.E./B.Tech. graduates irrespective of their Branch in Engineering/Technology are eligible to study either Mathematics or Physical Science as Pedagogy of a School Subject. However the B.E./B.Tech. graduates in Computer Science related branches and Bio-Technology related branches are also eligible to study· Science and Biological Science as Pedagogy of School Subject respectively. The reservation of seats for the graduates in B.E./B.Tech. in each Pedagogy of School Subjects (viz. Mathematics, Physical Science, Biological Science & Computer Science) shall be 5% only.

k) Candidates who have passed a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with not less than 3 years of duration under lateral entry are also eligible for admission.

Candidates, with the following marks in the U.G. Degree, are eligible for admission to B.Ed. degree program with Subject Code 01 to 10. The marks obtained in U.G. Degree alone shall be taken to arrive at the rank even if they possess P.G. Degree in the same subject. For the subjects with Subject Code 11 to 19, P.G. Degree with not less than 50% marks is mandatory and the subject in U.G. and P.G. shall be one and the same.

b) Marks obtained by the candidates in the P.G. Degree [Home Science, Economics, Commerce, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Logic, Indian Culture, and Philosophy) shall be considered eligible for admission and weightage for the highest qualification will be given as mentioned herein under Item V 2 (i).

c) For the students who have done their Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Technology, the marks obtained in their Degree shall be taken into account.

d) Rounding of marks to the next higher integer shall not be permitted.

e) The candidates who are qualified in U.G. degrees under OpenUniversity System after passing 10th Std: and +2 examinations shall alone be considered for admission to B.Ed. degree programme.

f) The candidates who are qualified in U.G. degrees under OpenUniversity System without passing 10th Std. and +2 examinations and subsequently passing 10th Std. and +2 examinations are not eligible for admission to B.Ed. degree programme.

(x) In the case of Differently-abled (Physically and Visually challenged)

candidates, a minimum pass in the requisite qualification is enough.

The basis of selection shall be in accordance with the Regulations of the University / Government of Tamil Nadu Guidelines for admission to B.Ed. the degree program in force from time to time.

III. Reservation of Seats

Reservation of seats for candidates belonging to BC, MBC/DNC, and ST communities will be made as per the rules and regulations of the Government of Tamil Nadu, as follows:

(a) 15% for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 3% for Scheduled Castes Arunthathiyars (SCA)

(b) 1% for Scheduled Tribes (ST)

(c) 20% for Most Backward Classes (MBC)    and Denotified Communities (DNC)

(d) 26.5% for Backward Classes (BC) and 3.5% for Backward Classes Muslims (BCM)

(e) 31% for Open Competition (OC)

Admission to every College of Education shall be made strictly by following the rule of reservation as per law in force including the Management quota seats of Non-Minority Aided Colleges.

Allocation of seats in the Colleges of Education are grouped into the following categories:

(i) Seats in Government Colleges of Education (100% of seat government quota)

(ii) Seats in Government Aided Colleges of Education (50% of seats in Aided Minority Colleges and 90% of seats in non-minority Aided Colleges as Government quota)

For the Wards of Ex-Servicemen of Tamil Nadu origin, one seat will be reserved in each College of Education.

5% of the sanctioned strength will be reserved for Differently abled

(Physically and Visually challenged) students in each College of Education. Additionally, 5 seats are exclusively allotted for Visually Challenged candidates in each of the two IASEs and five Government Colleges of Education.

Preparation of Rank List

(i) The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in Part III and Part IV in all three years in the U.G. degree will be taken as the base mark for ranking for subject codes 01 to 10.

(ii) Candidates, who have taken more than one major subject in part III (under Double/Triple major system) of the U.G. Degree program (Subject Codes 01 to 10) should choose only one of the major subjects. In such cases, marks obtained by the candidates in Two/Three major subjects shall be taken into account to arrive at the percentage of marks as stipulated in Item II (ix).

(iii) The percentage of marks obtained by the candidates in the P.G. The degree will be taken as the base mark for ranking for the Subject Codes 11 to 19, subject to the condition that the major subject in the U.G. and P.G. Degrees shall be one and the same.

(iv) Candidates, who are qualified in the P.G. Degree (5 years integrated course) under 0+2+5 shall be considered for admission. In such cases, the marks obtained by the candidates in the first three years in part III and part IV of the course alone shall be taken into account for admission to the B.Ed. Degree programme for subject codes 01 to 10. The marks obtained by the candidates in the last two years (4th & 5th year) alone shall be taken into account for admission to B.Ed. the degree programme for subject codes 11 to 19.

  1. v) In case of determination of inter-se-merit of candidates with the same marks in the ranking, the final ranking of candidates will be declared based on the following, in the order of merit.
  2. a) Marks secured by the candidate in the Major subject.
  3. b) Marks secured in Allied-I subject
  4. c) Marks secured in Allied-II subject
  5. d) By random method
  6. vi) Common and the community-wise rank list shall be maintained for

each optional subject separately.

  1. ii) Weightage for the highest qualification in the same subject will be given as follows and added to the base mark for ranking. However, the minimum marks mentioned in Item II (ix) is mandatory for subject codes 01 to 10 and not less than 50% of marks for subject codes 11 to 19.

(a) Candidates with P.G. (Subject Codes 1 to 10) – 4 (four) marks

(b) Candidates with M.Phil. – 5 (five) marks

(C) Candidates with Ph.D. – 6 (six) marks

(a) Candidates with PG (Subject Codes 11 to 19) – No mark

(b) Candidates with M.Phil. – 1 (One) mark

(c) Candidates with Ph.D.  – 2(Two) marks.

(ii) Weightage of 3 (three) marks for participation in any one of the

following co-curricular activities will be added.

a) NSS (with two years enrolment in NSS and with a minimum of seven days participation in the Special

Camp at College (U.G. degree) level alone will be considered]

b) NCC (B or C Certificate at college (U.G. degree) level]

c) Sports (should have represented the college (U.G. degree) at University/State/National level]

Cost of Application:

A candidate needs to submit only one application for B.Ed. Course seeking admission. The cost of application is Rs. 500/- The cost of application must be paid in cash.

VII. Important Instructions

  • The details provided by the candidates for admission shall be accurate based on the original certificates available with them. The candidate is totally responsible for any incorrect information and incorrect percentage of marks and such cases shall be summarily rejected.
  • Candidates are advised to take a Xerox copy of the coding sheet and fill up all the information correctly before filling the original coding sheet Candidates have to send the filled-in applications (coding sheet-as loose sheet) along with the xerox copies of all Mark Sheets, Co-Curricular Activity  Certificates, and Community Certificate to “The Secretary, Tamil Nadu B.Ed. Admission, Lady Willingdon Institute of Advanced Study in Education, Chennai -600 005.”
  • Candidates shall produce all the Original Certificates at the time of counseling for verification and admission or at any other time as required by the authorities. Selection will not be made if they do not produce the relevant and original documents at the time of counseling for verification.
  • The candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu only will be considered for communal reservation. Candidates seeking admission against SC, SC(A), ST, MBC/DNC, BC (Muslim), and BC (others) quota should obtain the Certificate of Social Status in the prescribed permanent Community Certificate / Card of Tamil Nadu and that should be produced at the time of counseling.
  • The ST candidates should obtain the Community Certificate only from the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) of their native place or Collector of their District.
  • Candidates selected shall submit a Certificate of Physical Fitness obtained from a Government Civil Surgeon / Civil Assistant Surgeon within the specified date mentioned in the provisional allotment order otherwise, his/her selection will be canceled.

VIII. Last Date for Submission of Application

The last date for receiving the filled-in application in person or by post will be notified in the advertisement. Application not received on or before the due date, not in the prescribed form, not correctly filled up, or does not otherwise fulfill the terms of the instructions shall be rejected. The candidate alone is responsible for any delay in receipt of application sent by post. No correspondence will be entertained in this respect.
